Charity Van Driver
Role Title: Charity Van Driver ( minimum age 25 for insurance purposes)
Responsible to: The Admin & Infrastructure Manager
Accountable to : Queen’s Hall Action on Poverty Trustees
Hours of Work: 40 Hours , 08:30-17:00 over 5 days , may include occasional evening & weekend work
Location: The Brickworks, will be expected to work within the community throughout the Wigan and Leigh Borough
Holidays: 22 Days plus Bank Holidays
The Brick is a small charity with big aspirations for people in need within our community. We provide RELIEF, RESTORATION and REFORMATION by offering tailored support, hope, and opportunity to those looking to improve their quality of life. Our shops rely heavily on the distribution of goods and we are now looking for second Van driver to join our Team. You will be proactive, have excellent customer service skills and a good geographical knowledge of the local area. You will be empathetic and respectful towards individuals who access our Welfare Furniture packages and to those in need.
To carry out the required duties and responsibilities as a Vehicle Driver for The Brick and specifically in collecting and delivering items of furniture and other items donated to our Charity Shops. You will drive the Charity van between our shops, to companies, to customers and donor’s homes throughout the Wigan and leigh Borough. You will actively promote the uptake of Gift aid on items of furniture collected and ensure that the Charities systems (Kudos) is used effectively and that records are maintained.
You will be a key member of our staff team working with the trainees, volunteers and staff colleagues, and specifically employed to drive one of our vehicles. Principally the role is to work alongside one or two trainees each day and be the main driver for our vehicle(s), assisting in all the tasks undertaken by the Team. In addition, The Brick operates a Welfare Service which utilises a Luton Body Van with tail lift, this is the main vehicle used for deliveries and collections.
