The Brick is a charity with big aspirations and its local community at the heart of everything it does.
We are a partnered with a network of passionate social activists working to bring about systemic change, whilst offering people going through tough times such as homelessness, leaving care, coming out of prison or experiencing emotional trauma, person-led and strength-based support through its PTS Response.
This is no ordinary role, instead, as a Person-led, Transitional and Strength-based (PTS) Coach, you will:
- Walk alongside people experiencing tough times, listening, identifying system barriers and working to overcome them.
- Unleash your inner activist and contribute to positively challenging and changing systems around homelessness, substance use, social care, mental health and criminal justice.
- Share your grassroots experience influencing others across the UK.
We are looking for someone who believes in people; a person who is comfortable walking alongside someone to identify and overcome barriers, to connect people with a positive community network and friendships, build on their strengths and achieve the future they want.
This is an opportunity for someone who understands that in the world today, the problem is not people with ‘complex needs’ but a broken system. A system that is failing to treat people as people. A system that traps and institutionalises people.
This role is not for the faint hearted, it is for someone with a passion for social justice, and the energy and determination to make systems work for people going through tough times.
The Brick is looking for someone with a strong sense of their own identity but who excels working with others, in particularly towards a common goal. Someone who believes that people have the right to thrive within their own community. Someone who knows about homelessness and doesn’t agree using labels. Someone with a proactive approach, who is not afraid to challenge or be challenged and works in person centred way.
The key role will be to work alongside individuals, offering a Person-led, Transitional, Strength-based (PTS) approach and support The Brick, by developing and promoting PTS response as well as working alongside people experiencing tough times and other strength-based ways of working.
The Post Holder will utilise their skills and experience to work one-on-one with individuals going through tough transitions in life. A PTS coach’s role is to assist people to move through challenging transitions so that they can take control of their life and contribute to their community.
You will develop partnerships and develop specific Brokering opportunities which will meet the talents and abilities of each individual. The post holder will be required to travel and work across a number of operational sites across the borough as required and work flexibly to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This will include evening and weekend working. You will manage volunteers to assist people to build up new and positive friendships and networks.
The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for personal development, identifying personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal.
