The Brick is a growing project that delivers big results for the community it serves. It offers services to people who are homeless, in poverty or facing debt crisis. As its name suggests, it provides a safe, solid building block for people in crisis to begin to construct a new life and become valuable members of society.

Outreach Volunteer (Wigan and Leigh Area) 

Key Responsibilities / Role

Here at The Brick, we take a proactive and non-judgemental approach to supporting people who are in crisis. The Brick’s aim is to support and prevent people from becoming homeless. Prevention is key.

We are looking for a dynamic person with the relevant skills to support the Outreach Team as an Outreach Worker / volunteer, working across Wigan and Leigh, Greater Manchester.

In this role you will:

  • Undertake shifts that will involve making contact with people who are sleeping rough. You will be required to assess their needs and deliver a personalised case management; to help support individuals to make the move away from homelessness

 

  • Support other Outreach Workers to deliver accessible services and ensure that contact is made and sustained with the people we work with.

 

  • Ensure that assessments made, and the support offered are appropriate and relevant. Also ensure that the people we work with are supported to engage with the available services/agencies.

 

  • Work in partnership with multi-disciplinary teams and agencies and advocate, where appropriate, with external agencies regarding their welfare rights and other support needs.
