What inspired you to contact The Brick about volunteering opportunities?
I want to do my bit when it comes to helping others in the community. Homelessness is one of the greatest injustices that citizens of such a wealthy country must endure and anything that helps end that is something I’m keen to support.
What’s your previous experience of volunteering?
I have helped out at a shelter in Manchester City centre as well as helped to distribute spare food from the co-op head office to various shelters around Manchester .
Are you employed? Retired? Student? In between Jobs? Unable to work?
I am employed full time.
What do you hope to get from volunteering at The Brick?
A sense that I am doing my bit to help others who need it most.
What area of The Brick would you like to or have started volunteering in and why?
I’m currently volunteering in the shelters in the evenings, though I would like to expand into other areas.
The Brick Shop is a charity shop selling donated goods, often to people on low incomes. The shop gives clothes free of charge to people referred by Wigan Council. The shop is one of the main hubs within its community.
The Brick Giving aims to put an end to poverty and homelessness in Wigan and Leigh. Our #BrickbyBrick campaign is working to raise £175,000 to purchase The Brick Works and make sure no one in our community is left behind.
