A major boost has been given to frontline support services in Wigan after FASE Group Ltd donated £20,000 to The Brick, helping to support people facing homelessness, poverty, and hardship across the borough.
The significant donation will help The Brick continue delivering vital services, including emergency food provision, housing support, and pathways into employment for some of the community’s most vulnerable individuals.
For Sean Moffatt, Managing Director of FASE Group, the decision to support The Brick was deeply personal.
“This isn’t about company recognition, it’s about people,” said Sean. “Having grown up in deprived areas, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges many families and young people face. What’s particularly worrying now is how many people are becoming homeless at a younger age.
When I visited The Brick and saw the sheer number of people relying on the foodbank, it really brought home the scale of the issue. After speaking with Keely and understanding the pressures the organisation is under, supporting them felt like a no brainer.
The Brick is doing essential work, helping people not just survive, but giving them a real chance to rebuild their lives through accommodation, employment opportunities, and basic human support like food, clothing and dignity.”
FASE Group has a strong track record of supporting both local and national causes, including grassroots sports teams and youth initiatives. However, organisations like The Brick hold particular personal significance.
“I’m proud to be in a position where we can give back,” Sean added. “Not every business can contribute at this level, but support doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Whether it’s time, resources or funding, it all matters. I’d encourage any business, large or small, to reach out and support The Brick in any way they can. Like Nike says, ‘Just do it.’ It really does make a difference.”
The donation comes at a critical time, as demand for support services continues to rise amid ongoing economic pressures, with more families and young people finding themselves in crisis.
Keely Dalfen, CEO of The Brick, welcomed the contribution and highlighted its impact:
“We are incredibly grateful to FASE Group for this generous donation. Demand for our services continues to grow, and support like this enables us to be there for people when they need us most.
Sean’s commitment goes beyond financial support, he has taken the time to understand the realities our community is facing, and that makes a huge difference. This funding will directly help us provide food, shelter, and practical support, while also creating opportunities for people to move forward with their lives.”
The Brick continues to work with partners across Wigan to tackle the root causes of homelessness and poverty, providing not just immediate relief but long-term solutions that help people rebuild independence and stability.
