A Place to Belong: Support our Crowdfunder

At The Brick, our goal is simple but powerful: to transform our current space into a true community hub — somewhere people don’t just access food, but receive holistic support to improve their lives.

All Donations Will Be Tripled

Thanks to match funding, every donation will have three times the impact. That means a £5 donation becomes £20, helping us reach more people and create lasting change.

About Our Food Community

Based at St George’s Church on Water Street in Wigan, The Brick Food Community provides access to affordable, nutritious food in a welcoming, shop-style environment where people can choose what they need with dignity and respect.

We are not a traditional food bank. While we do provide emergency support when necessary, our focus is on long-term solutions to food poverty, ensuring everyone has access to good, healthy food.

Our Vision

We want to go further.

While our current space includes a shop layout and a small seating area, we know it has the potential to be so much more. Our vision is to create a space where people can access not just food, but the support, guidance and opportunities they need to move forward.

What We Want to Achieve

With your support, we will:

  • Redesign the layout to create a more welcoming and functional environment

  • Build walls to provide private, safe spaces for confidential support

  • Install additional storage and shelving to increase food capacity

  • Create a café-style hatch and seating area to encourage connection and reduce isolation

  • Deliver specialist support services, including:

    • Therapy and wellbeing sessions

    • Financial advice and guidance

    • Group workshops

    • School holiday activities for families

Why It Matters

For many people, The Brick Food Community is more than a place to shop — it is a lifeline.

By transforming our space, we will be able to:

  • Support more people, more effectively

  • Offer confidential, one-to-one support

  • Reduce isolation and strengthen community connections

  • Address the root causes of poverty, not just the symptoms

Together, we can create a space where people feel valued, supported and empowered — a place where real change begins.
