Gidlow Lane Charity Shop Gets A Revamp!

The Brick’s Charity Shop, on Gidlow Lane in Wigan, reopened on Thursday 27th July, after a short closure to undergo a total refresh. The opening day was celebrated by staff, volunteers and local businesses, who all came together to unveil the charity shop’s new look.

The charity shop, has been operating for almost 50 years, is run by a team of staff and volunteers, and has undergone a total refresh and restyle. The project has been made possible due to the support of a number of local businesses.

Kraft Heinz eight volunteers worked with the team at The Brick on the charity shop’s refresh.

Luis Spinardi, Site Director at Kraft Heinz, said: “Supporting the refresh of The Brick’s Gidlow Lane Charity Shop, through 8 Kitt Green employees undertaking 112 volunteering hours, has been an absolute pleasure, and has yet again allowed us to bring our purpose of ‘Strengthening Our Communities’ to life! “We can’t wait to support The Brick further through our ongoing partnership.”

Northwest Property Services Contractor, Bell, have also supported The Brick’s Gidlow Lane Charity Shop refresh project, providing materials and manpower to ensure that the refurbishment project was completed on time.

Bell Northwest Community Engagement Coordinator, Adele Stretch, said: “Bell is delighted to be supporting The Brick. As a business, and as part of our corporate social responsibility strategy, we are keen to repurpose paint and materials where we can, rather than sending them to be recycled.”

“Apprentices, Sam Capper and Kieron Williams, have demonstrated just how successful this can be with the delivery of the ‘We Transform’ project, utilising surplus, and part used tins to complete the redecoration works at The Bricks Charity Shop.

“As part of our commitment to our apprentices we are keen to expose them to community projects, to help raise awareness and highlight the important role that businesses play within communities. They have had the chance to develop their planning, leadership, organisational and technical skills in a live environment; all whilst giving back to a local charity, a great result for all!”

The Bricks Anti-poverty Director, Claire Taylor said: “We are excited to be unveiling the new look Gidlow Lane Charity Shop and I would encourage customers old and new to stop by and see for themselves the amazing transformation that has been made. I want to thank Kraft Heinz, Bell, and all the businesses who have donated materials and their time to make this refresh project a reality, as without their support we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have, in just a few days! I am proud of our team at The Brick and all of our volunteers who have also helped with the project, and we are all looking forward to welcoming our loyal customers back, and any new customers who would like to stop by to find a bargain and to support The Brick.”
