The Brick has launched its Christmas ‘It Starts with You’ fundraiser, calling on the people of Wigan and Leigh to help begin a ripple of kindness that could change someone’s life this winter.
With more families than ever turning to The Brick for food, warmth and crisis support, the charity is urging the community to come together so no one faces Christmas alone, hungry or in the cold.
Brick Volunteer, Daniel David Myall, said: “I walked into The Brick with nothing but the clothes on my back. From there The Brick treated me with care and compassion, found me a home, gave me my confidence back and a clear pathway to a better life. What can you do to help? There are a million things, all you have to do is find one.”
Every ripple begins with one drop, one donation, one warm meal, one small act of kindness. This Christmas, The Brick hopes that the generosity of the local community will start a chain reaction that ends with someone finding safety, dignity and even a home.
“Christmas should be a time of warmth, safety and togetherness, but sadly that’s not the reality for many people across Wigan and Leigh,” said Keely Dalfen, CEO of The Brick. “This campaign reminds us that every act of kindness, no matter how small, starts a ripple of hope. With the support of our community, we can make sure no one is left hungry, cold or alone this Christmas. It truly starts with you.”
The Brick is asking the community to be the start of someone’s Christmas story. Every coffee shared, every pound donated, every simple act of kindness helps build stability, supports local families, and keeps people safe. Wigan and Leigh has always stood together in times of need, and this Christmas, The Brick believes that the ripple of hope begins here, with each of us.
Brick Volunteer, Jack Boyd concludes: “I was living in a tent, but the Brick found me, they gave me a warm meal and found me a stable, safe environment to live in. Most importantly the chance of a future, a happy future. Help change someone else’s future for the better. Every action counts.”
